RIP Kelly Surette Muir

Picture
It is with other sadness and devastation that I’m announcing the death of Kelly Surrette Muir on March 14, 2021. Unfortunately she was struck by a motorist while on the back of a motorcycle and was killed instantly..
This is the eulogy for Kelly's memorial by her best friend, business partner, and ride or die, Tegan Stadnyck Beyer.
Well since this is a celebration of life and Im probably going to say the word fun and Kelly’s name a lot, I’d like to make this into a toasting and drinking game. so if you’d like pls raise your glass and take a drink every time time I say Kelly and fun.
As many of you know Kelly was my best friend, and my business partner... we were together so much that people thought we were a lesbian Couple. Our coworkers called us mom and dad. They called her dad because she let them get away with everything. I met Kelly in 2004ish in Saugus ma at light wave tattoo. She started working the desk there and was becoming an apprentice. Her grit was evident- she would do whatever she could to get into work- she’d take buses, the t or rides from coworkers. She worked her ass off.
We instantly clicked during that time. I took her under my wing, we became very close and we had a lot of fun in our twenties.
I moved away but we still kept in touch. We both got married and started having kids.Through the years I’d keep in touch ans come up often to do guest spots. I’d stay with her, Dan and her family. We’d go out and have a blast. She was always down for fun.
Even though Kelly and I were very different people- she was a night owl and I’m a morning person - I’ll never forget the time I asked her to come out to buy supplies for
The shop at 8am and she was in shock
That stores opened so early.
we shared a lot in common. we enjoyed the same sense of humor which is completely inappropriate. We also got joy from making other people happy whether it be by tattooing them, buying them a drink or lending a hand or an ear. She had a huge heart and often it seemed as if she put others well being before herself. Kelly was always making people laugh, smile, and have fun. She rarely held a grudge. After her death I heard a story about how she helped someone move out of their house quickly because they were being physically abused.
Now it may sound trite, but If we can learn something from kellys life it’s that life is too short, enjoy every moment you can and cherish your loved ones and have fun.
Im so bummed out that we will never have a Tv show or grow old together and drink white claws on the porch while telling our grandkids stories we could never tell our kids.
We Laughed so hard together. We worked so hard together. She called money fun tickets if that helps put things into perspective.
We Pulled pranks. We went on trips. We had so much fun doing whatever we did. No one would’ve ever guessed a tragedy would happen in Daytona like it did. But just like Kelly’s first class style a rocket flew over soon after she passed.

Kelly used to say often “This is our life now” I can’t imagine a life without Kelly and I still can’t believe that she’s gone, but she would want us to push through, show up and get things done. She would want us to have fun doing it too.
Even in her death Kelly will continue to stay with us. Through her art and in our memories. I wouldn’t doubt that someday maybe she will even haunt us.... Just kidding..however she will certainly be watching over all us to make sure that we’re all ok.
